Vanessa's yoga learning began in Palmerston North in 2011. She fell in love with yoga and what it has taught her about herself, her body, her life. She trained with Mataji Yoga School, Palmerston North becoming a qualified teacher in 2013 and teaching a various venues. In June 2018 she opened her Yoga Studio, Yoganess at 162 The Square, Palmerston North to offer her students the feeling of peace, serenity and to be able to enjoy a dedicated yoga space.
Vanessa says "So lucky to be able to share my passion for yoga with people who want to bring more balance into their lives both on a physical level and hopefully much deeper! We love to build core strength and flexibility and enjoy the benefits of all over body, mind fitness and general well being. Yoga really is for everyone."

Class costs at the studio are
$13 a class for a concession of 6 or more classes, valid for 3 months. $78 for 6, $130 for 10 etc; because yoga concessions means that you are setting the intention for more regular time for your wellness.
5.30-6.30pm Yoga at Vanessa's Studio. Vinyasa flow class, a beautiful time to just listen to your body, go with your flow, breathe, focus, relax.
6.45-7.45pm Yin Yoga at Vanessa's studio. Yin yoga, relaxing and restorative, builds flexibility, it is perfect for beginners and those who want to mix up their yoga practices. Gentle, restorative and finishing with a long Savasana and relaxing essential oils.
Tuesdays: Vinyasa slow flow with Nicole Allan
5.30-6.30pm Yoga at Vanessa's Studio, Nicole takes a beautiful and thoughtful slow flow class, perfect for all levels of yoga.
6.15-7.15am on Zoom. Please register at bottom of page. Meditation and Yoga, prepare your body, mind and soul with this beautiful practice. Practising different meditation techniques including breath work, transcendental, mindfulness and guided, followed by a gentle stretchy yoga flow practice.
9.15-10am Yoga at Village Valley Centre, Ashhurst, suits beginner to intermediate yoga students, classes run during the school terms.
Wednesday evenings :
5.30-6.30pm Yoga Core and Restore at Vanessa's Studio. Suitable for intermediate to advanced yoga students. See class description below. If you love a strong core flow class, then this is for you!
Thursdays: 5.30-6.30pm: Vinyasa flow Yoga at Vanessa's studio, suitable for beginners to intermediate students. *Please note this class is now full, please inquire about our wait list*
Friday mornings 6.15-7.15am: On Zoom. Yoga and meditation to start your day in the most beautiful positive way. The benefits of practicing yoga and meditation early in the morning far outweigh having to get out of bed early for this class. Body - your body will be stretched and energised for the day ahead, mind - you may feel more positive and more focused for the whole day, soul - you may leave the class feeling happy, lighter and connected to who you are.

$60 an hour or share with a friend for the same price. Deepen your practise in an individually designed class, or learn the basics of yoga if you are a beginner wanting to start your yoga journey.
Class type options:
Vanessa's yoga classes are flow style
vinyasa - linking a variety of poses and movements
with the breath. Each class is different to keep the
mind focused and engaged and because there are so
many wonderful poses in yoga to explore. Suitable for all levels as any new poses (aka challenges!) are explained and full guidance and assistance is given where required.
Yoga Core and Restore -
Full on 40 minutes of Core Power Yoga - you will
get a 'workout'! It is strong, fun and the option during the class to get upside down and change your perspective! Then 10 minutes of restorative yoga finishing with an extra long rest for the body and soul, with a relaxing hands on neck and head tension release, a perfect compliment to power Core Yoga. Class pre-requisites is at least 6 months of regular vinyasa yoga practice or a good level of fitness.
Yin Yoga: Yin yoga is fast becoming a popular way to practice yoga, with long holds relaxing the muscles and targeting the deeper connective tissues, fascia, joints and bones. Yin yoga can be described as the other half of a regular yoga practice. Students may find a deeper connection and learning about themselves. In Yin Yoga we don't use our body to get into a pose, we use the pose to get into our body. In August 2017 Vanessa continued her yoga learning and studied with Marcus Henning Gless and Karin Sang to complete 50 RYS Hours of Yin Yoga Training.
Yoganess Zoom Classes from my home zen space to yours!
We started these classes throughout the Covid-19 Lockdown period in our lives and found a special new way of connecting with others and ourselves with our yoga practice.
We are now continuing our Zoom early morning meditation and yoga classes on Wednesdays at 6.15am and also at the moment on Fridays 6.15am during the cold months of June and maybe July.

I live in Feilding with my Husband Josh and fur baby Cosmo and new puppy - Poppy, originally from Blenheim.
I have spent the last 9 years pursuing academic success and worked in a corporate 9-5 job. But my true calling is yoga.
I first began practicing yoga in 2014 and it has been a huge part of my life ever since. Having suffered from depression and anxiety since my teens and experiencing a sexual assault at 19, I know what it is like to fall out of love with your body. Yoga has been a massive part of my healing journey, it is so much more than just the physical postures, it is as much a mental exercise as it is physical. I'm excited to now share this knowledge and passion with my community.
My favorite style of yoga is a slow flow, moving mindfully with the breath and connecting to mind, body and soul on a deeper level. My hope is that my students leave feeling refreshed, relaxed and nourished.
In my spare time you can find me in the kitchen creating delicious plant based food or with my head in a good book.
